Though visitors and residents of La Quinta might be able to readily identify the city’s commitment to keeping the environment as safe and stable as possible, it is important to also note the city’s commitment to the preservation of the culture of the region too. For example, travelers can head to the La Quinta Museum to see many fine examples of local artisans’ works. They will also hear about the Native Americans (the Cahuilla Indians) who populated the area before more modern settlement and even hear how this group is faring in the modern world too since they are still in existence and living in the region!

It is also very impressive to learn about the city’s long-time dedication to the encouragement of art through the “public places” program. The Art in Public Places program plays an integral role in the enhancement of the City’s social and environmental growth.”
This is easily and readily seen in the 17+ installations scattered throughout town, and that the city provides a map for visitors to use in order to find the art and enjoy it. From monuments and sculptures to fountains and murals, there is an abundance of man-made beauty meant to balance out the somewhat overwhelming natural beauty of the region too.
Additionally, there is the popular La Quinta Civic Center that includes a nature walk equipped with more public art, a lake with a massive fountain in the middle, and the local Senior Center and Library offering many fine programs and events.
Visitors can also make their way to the Plaza Theater to catch a show or enjoy the Hollywood Museum that traces the popularity of the La Quinta and Palm Springs area within the Hollywood community.
There are also a few galleries and artisan’s studios in the Old Town La Quinta area too. Many of these locations will give you a chance to acquire the works of emerging artists in the Southern California area or to simply enjoy looking at the works created from local inspiration. The Palm Springs Art Museum is also a good place to take in the galleries, the outdoor sculpture park, and even a show in their massive 450 seat theater.
Finally, in the heart of La Quinta itself is the main lawn of Old Town La Quinta. Here there are many concerts and a large list of seasonal cultural events.
